Sabich

Oy vey, the famous sabich! This is a Middle Eastern Sandwich - a pita stuffed with grilled eggplant, hummus, a hard-boiled egg, various chopped salads, sauces, and pickles. This one is from The Hummus Place on the Upper West Side. The first one I ever had was from a tiny food stand in Tel Aviv on Dizengoff and Frischmann, and it blew my little mind. You can also get a delicious one at Cafe Taim in the West Village.

  1. That's awesome. I love the HP. I used to be able to down the entire plate plus 2 pitas in one sitting. :)

  2. Yep, we tend to over-indulge when we go there, too. It's always worth it!
