Sicilian Slices from Two Boots Pizza on Bleecker
This pizza blew my mind. The sauce, oh lordy, the sauce. It was garlicky and tangy and NOT sweet at all. I am not a fan of sweet marinara. This was savory enough to border on spicy, but NOT hot-spicy. I don't usually get Sicilian slices, but I did that day. Now I'm wondering if they use the same sauce on the regular slices. I have been daydreaming about this pizza ever since that day, and I've been scheming a scheme to go back there. I had this between work shifts on 9/21/11.

Pizza from Dean's
When there's an occasion for a large gathering with O's family, Dean's on the UWS is a great choice. It's huge and there's always enough space for all of us, and the waitstaff is good at dealing with large groups. The food is awesome, this is the pepperoni pizza, which is great. They also have this one salad that is AMAZING, but I can't remember its name...It's got romaine and tomatoes and a vinaigrette that is perfect.
A Slice of our Favorite Pizza from L'Allegria
We just love the Pizza Italiano from L'Allegria in Hell's Kitchen, and we add olives. They've got a brick oven, so all the pizzas are thin-crust (can you make a thick crust in a brick oven?) When we're in the mood for really good pizza (not 99 cents, we have to order in advance, we have to wait for it) this is what we get.
Lombardi's Pizza
Dad and I went to the famous Lombardi's in Little Italy in NYC. It was good, but we were not blown away. But it was fun to do a touristy thing together, and hey, pizza, right?

Cheap Pizza Slices
A big thing in NYC right now is the 99 cent pizza slice. There are three within 2 short blocks of my house, one that I can see from my window, which is where these are from. They're pretty decent when you want a fast and cheap snack. When we want REAL good slices, we go to Famiglia or Claudio (both of which will probably be featured prominently in many of these blog posts.) But for 2 bucks after a long day of work that gets me home at 1am, this is pretty great.
